EURO-2009: THE FIRST IMPORTANT CHAMPIONSHIPS OF NEW OLYMPIA CYCLE

15-17 may 2009 in Baku there will be held 25-th European Championships on Rhythmic Gymnastics. In the competition which will last 3 days in Sport-Concert Complex named after Heydar Aliyev 186 gymnasts from 32 countries will struggle for medals. In private program 75 gymnasts from 31 countries, in struggle of 17 collectives group teams between juniors will solve the fate of 6 set medals.

UEG’s president Mr. Dmitros Dimitropoulos said these words in the press conference devoted to the opening of 25th European Championship. UEG’s vice-president Mr. Andras Szabo, vice-president of Organization Commitee Mr .Altay Hasanov, Azerbaijan national team’s head coach Mrs. Marianna Vasileva , competition coordinator Mr.Farid Gayibov and ’’Stadler’’ Switzerland company’s representative Mr.Zoltan Dunai were taking part in this conference.

THE 25TH EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP ON RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS STARTED TODAY

The 25th European Championship on rhythmic gymnastics started today. The first day of the classification stage ended with performances of "A" group gymnasts . Azerbaijan gymnasts Aliya Garayeva and Anna Gurbanova which took part in this group showed their performances. Garayeva fulfilled rope and hoop, Gurbanova ribbon and ball motions. According to first day results of tournament, our team took the 3rd place after Russia and Ukraine.

İndividual gymnasts team competitions of the 25th European Championship on rhythmic gymnastics has ended today. Azerbaijan National Team for the first time in it's history earned silver medal of the continent competitions. Scoring 27.350 points Aliya Garayeva and 27.350 points Anna Gurbanova rose to the second step of the honorary chair. Russian collective earned the name of European champions and bronze medals went to Ukrainan team.

The event is a milestone on the road the World Championships to be held in Mie (JPN) in September 2009.
